The classic game of Truth or Dare condensed in a newspaper. Sure, it can be a bit antagonizing and embarrassing at times, but you don't want to seem like a pussy, right?
The mighty domain of the Greek Gods, Mount Olympus is simply a very large, towering mountain above the human realm. The peak is quite literally hanging in the clouds, shrouded by mystery. No mere mortal can make the stressful climb to the top, where the deities rest. Each Greek entity seems to glow their own personal color while upon the mountain.
Located in Greece, the Fountain of Youth is a long sought after area by the mortals. Legend has it that bathing in the waters of the over-sized fountain made of golden brick reverses the years off of your flesh as you soak. The Gods takes trips to the Fountain of Youth to keep themselves looking attractive and young.
The entrance to the River Styx empties out near Greece, the final portal between the living and the dead. The Underworld is commanded by the celestial King Hades, and his wife the Iron Queen Persephone. Constructed to be layered, the deeper one goes within the Underworld, the darker and more sinister the spirits become. The freshly dead are ferried across the river by the loyal Charon, a servant to Hades. Their seems to be a strange area of the Underworld exclusive to Hades and his family.
Ithaca is actually an island off the main-land of Greece, large and slightly elevated, as if the island is constructed in layers upon layers of dirt roads, houses and forest. The current king is Odysseus, ruling aside him his royal family. The island itself is said to be very beautiful and comfortable and filled with remnants of the celestial Gods. On one part of an island there is an ancient olive tree, said to be as old as the island itself.
Sparta is the liberated city of Greece, one of the few places where women are considered to be equals to men. Sparta is a very large city-state, situated on the River Eurotas. The soldiers of Sparta are held in high admiration all across Europe, believing they are quite literally the cream of the crop. Society tends to be rough as they most literally kill those they do not find strong, a very cruel system. The current ruler is King Menelaus and his wife, Helen.
Ruled strictly by Theseus and his royal family, Athens is the largest city of Greece. Athens is said to be rich in not only population, but also knowledge, history and overall worth. Although not as brutish as the Spartans, Athens reciprocates this with having the sharpest minds. A bustling city, Athens is hardly labeled as boring.
Asgard is the capital of the Gods and the home of the Aesir, it is partially encompassed by an incomplete wall of closely fitted stones. Asgard is a land above the mortal realm and is both the most bountiful and the most wealthy of the nine worlds. It is here that the Norse gods hold court to decide the fates of men and gods as well as to host great banquets in celebration of victories and simple feats alike. Valhalla, the hall of all great heroes, is located within Asgard.
A large, glorious hall situated within Asgard in which half of all who are slain in battle are allowed to reside; as opposed to Freyja’s hall, to which the other half are to live. It is here that the slain are in constant training in order to meet their fates once more in Ragnarok. Valhalla occasionally hosts open competition in which all who so wish may contest in order to prove their strength.
The section of the mortal world dedicated to the Norse and their people. It is a land surrounded almost entirely by impassable waters, causing the natives to become exceptional sailors and navigators as well as serving as a great defense against those who seek conquest in this region. The entirety of the landmass encompasses Norway and its Scandinavian neighbors in addition to a few islands just off the coast. It is connected to the Aesirs’ Asgard by the Bifrost Bridge, watched over by the guardian god Heimdall.
Oh, the Nile. This long river stretches down through the middle of Egypt, and has small rivers connected this watery beast. In simple terms, this river is very sacred to the Egyptian people. Commoners often go to the river to simply gather water, the royals like to lounge about upon a boat in pure relaxation, and the animals like swim around within the waters. But beware! If one angers the Egyptian gods, this Nile can be one cruel river. It can recede to nothingness and Egypt can be left as a wasteland, or it can flood the lands and take all into its grasp.
The desert, what wonderful wide terrain this is. Often travelers have to ride a camel or walk across this treacherous sandy land to get to a city. Many people warn foreigners to carry lots of water to reach one place to another. If one doesn’t listen well to their warnings, one could find themselves flopping on the sand heaving for water. This terrain is very cruel to anyone, and deadly sandstorms are very common to everyday life. Although its basic knowledge that one can hallucinate oasis’s when fatigued, but there is a secret oasis perched in the middle of nowhere within the desert.
Cairo, a city in Egypt perched by the mouth of the Nile. It is a bustling city full of great wonders and culture. Many weary travelers like to rest here and the city is known for its large dynamic markets. The markets are filled with various treasures; gems, maps, food, etc. Although, it is a friendly a bustling city by day, it can be rather dangerous a night. Many bandits and troublemakers roam the alleyways, so one better best have a buddy; they would need someone to fight with.
Heliopolis, well, that place is mainly a worshiped area for the Egyptian gods and the Egyptians go here to pray to their gods in hopes for some fortune. The place is constantly in construction, with temples on the rise, the magnificent Sphynx statue, and the many pyramids that hold wonders of the world. But this place isn’t friendly to those who don’t believe in the gods, and rumor has it that Ra sends his loyal Sekment to punish those who snub the gods. So, a traveler better be on their very best behavior or else they might find themselves in a deadly and bloody predicament.
The forest that surrounds Mount Fuji is rather rugged of a place. On the foot of a mountain, and perhaps even extending onto the steep slope of the landmark, it is made of rough shrub life and the forest floor is made predominantly of volcanic rock and debris. Known as a spot for humans to take their lives, it might not be the humans that are ending themselves. Within the branches and blending with the surrounding animals are the supernatural. Demons are the primary occupants of this forest, and they cling to the branches in waiting, hide in the Cave of Ice for someone to come passed. These are feral, inhuman demons, and there is no real ruler for them to unite under.
Just as the other myths have their own geographical phenomena, the Japanese have Mount Hiei to house their gods. Atop the mountain are housing situations for each other gods, who occasionally will retreat from invading the mortal world to settle into their respective homes. Here is where the creating god and goddess, Izanami and Izanagi, spend their days - their children coming and going. The houses of the gods are made according to their taste, though mostly of Japanese décor.
One of the Oyashima islands in the creation story, Awaji is the place to be. Holding religious structures like the Hompukuji water temple and more recent adapations to the land, such as the Awaji Yumebutai, the island is a mixture of modern and ancient cultures. In saying so, it is the same with the population. The small island is full of all different kinds of people, all connected under a single sky. The place is generally peaceful, experiencing a jump in crime activity here and there.
